The Citrus Heights Police Department is investigating another shooting that occurred Sunday evening on Auburn Blvd., about two blocks from where several other shootings occurred earlier this year.
Residents in the area of Auburn Boulevard and Antelope Road on Sunday reported hearing helicopter and police activity as officers responded to a shooting.
Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel in an email Tuesday that the shooting occurred on Aug. 8 around 6:20 p.m.
“It appears as though this was a shooting between two subjects who knew each other or were acquainted in some way; therefore, we do not believe there is cause for concern to the greater public,” Wells said, adding that no injuries were reported “at this time.”
Nearby residents said the area was briefly closed off and a heavy police presence could be seen, along with a helicopter circling overhead.
Police did not release names or descriptions of any suspects in the incident and are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Citrus Heights Police at (916) 727-5500.
“CHPD takes these types of crime very seriously and we will work diligently to locate and bring these people to justice,” Wells said.
In May, police responded to two shootings near the 7440 Club on Auburn Boulevard, located about 1,500 feet away from the latest shooting on August 8. Police said both prior shootings were unrelated, and have subsequently announced arrests in each incident.
