Chamber to host elected officials’ meet-and-greet
The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce will host an event on Aug. 2, designed to give the local business community an opportunity to meet the area’s elected officials. Congressman Ami Bera is among those confirmed to be in attendance, according to the Chamber’s executive director. The event will be held inside Sunrise Mall from 5-7 p.m. The cost to Chamber members is $15, or $20 for non-members, and includes appetizers and drinks. Citrus Heights councilman announces he has COVID-19
Councilman Bret Daniels said in a Facebook post Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19. In an update Thursday, he posted that he had diminishing symptoms and “just a little congestion now and then and an occasional mild short-term fever,” but initially had a cough and torso pain that “felt like it had been beat with a baseball bat.” Daniels has been a vocal critic of coronavirus-related lockdowns and has confirmed he was not vaccinated.
Obituary: Robert C. Churchill (1923-2021)
Robert Claude Churchill passed away on July 8 at the age of 98, according to an obituary published in The Sacramento Bee. Churchill was raised in Oregon, served in the Navy during World War 2, and later taught math at various Sacramento-area schools. He lived in Citrus Heights for 59 years, and is survived by his son Robert A. Churchill of Fair Oaks, as well as a daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is remembered as a “wonderful family man, a friend to all who shared his path in life, a great story-teller, and always of good humor.” (See full obituary)
Citrus Heights ‘Underground Clothing’ store featured on Good Day Sacramento
Good Day Sacramento visited the Underground Clothing Connection store inside Sunrise Mall last week, showcasing the store’s various clothing offered to in-need students at no cost. The Citrus Heights Homeless Assistance Resource Team opened the store last year to serve students in the San Juan Unified School District. (See video)
