Celebration of Life to commemorate Veterans Community Center founder

A celebration of life will be held in Citrus Heights this Saturday in honor of James Rounsavell, who founded the nonprofit Veterans Community Center on Sylvan Road.

Michelle Grant, a volunteer board member with the center, said Rounsavell passed away on March 4 and was buried in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon. She said he served in the US Air Force as well as the US Army Air Forces.

Grant said members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony to pay tribute to Rounsavell, which will be held Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m. A potluck luncheon will follow.

Attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish according to the first letter of their last name. Those with last names beginning with “A” through “E” are asked to bring a salad or side dish, “F” through “L” are to bring a dessert, and “M” through “Z” are asked to bring a main dish.

The ceremony will be held at the Veterans Community Center, located at 6921 Sylvan Rd., in Citrus Heights.
