Sentinel staff report–
An outdoor graduation ceremony for San Juan High School was live-streamed on YouTube last weekend, as mostly masked students walked across a stage set up at McArthur field to receive their diplomas.
School Principal Dennis Foster greeted each student as they crossed the stage, noting in remarks made at a podium that the in-person graduation was the first since 2019. The school held a virtual graduation in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Foster said the June 4 graduation was the first time he had been “in the physical presence of our entire senior class,” noting he became principal shortly after the pandemic began last year. He encouraged the seniors to view their graduation as “a launching point for your own greatness,” calling them to take the next step in pursuing a career, starting a family, or making other life choices.
