Police said another shooting occurred early Sunday morning near Rocky’s 7440 Club on Auburn Boulevard, coming just a week after a shooting occurred on the same block the prior weekend.
In a news release Sunday afternoon Citrus Heights police said officers responded to the 7400 block of Auburn Boulevard just after 2 a.m., which is when the 7440 Club closes. Upon arrival, officers found a “large fight that had just concluded in the parking lot of an adjacent business,” police said.
After gaining control of the scene, officers found two people had been struck by gunfire. The individuals are expected to survive, police said. Three parked vehicles were also struck.
Police closed southbound Auburn Boulevard between Kanai Avenue and Pratt Avenue while officers conducted an investigation. By Monday afternoon, no police vehicles or crime scene tape were observed at the site.

Sunday’s incident comes just a week after another shooting near the same location. The Sentinel reported a separate incident where four individuals were shot, all of whom are expected to survive.
Citrus Heights Police Lt. Michael Wells said the preliminary investigation indicates the most recent shooting is unrelated to the prior weekend’s shooting, although he said both shooting were “associated with the nightclub.”
“Preliminary investigation shows that the assailants and victims are connected to the 7440 Club,” Wells wrote in an email to The Sentinel on Monday. “Either patrons exiting the establishment or planning to enter. Both shooting incidents occurred in the parking lots of the clubs neighboring businesses. These parking lots are often used as overflow parking lots for the nightclubs patrons and the neighboring businesses are not open at that hour.”
The Sentinel reported one suspect is in custody from the prior May 8 shooting, with police seeking to apprehend at least one more shooting suspect. That incident is believed to be gang related, with the 39-year-old suspect arrested being charged with firing shots from a motor vehicle among other felonies. Police did not release any information on suspects from Sunday’s incident.
The department said last week that area businesses and community members had been helpful in providing additional information and evidence related to the first shooting. Police are asking anyone with information about either incident to contact the department’s crime tip line at 916‐727‐5524.
