Citrus Heights police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a 39-year-old “validated gang member” in connection with a Mother’s Day Weekend shooting at Rocky’s 7440 Club on Auburn Boulevard that left four people injured.

Police said a SWAT team conducted a search and arrest warrant on May 11 for suspect Camilo Saenz, which resulted in his apprehension without incident. Police detectives believe Saenz was “one of the shooters.”
According to Wednesday’s news release, police now say there were two shootings on the morning of May 8, the first shooting happening around 1:25 a.m. and the second happening “moments later.” Police said the second shooting was likely in retaliation to the first.
“Both shootings were determined to be gang related and stemmed from an incident which occurred earlier in the evening,” police said. A second shooter is also being sought, as detectives continue to pursue leads.
Online inmate records show Saenz has been charged with three felonies: discharging firearms at an inhabited dwelling, vehicle or building, use of firearm during a felony, and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle. He also has pre-existing charges for an arrest warrant regarding four misdemeanors related to driving under the influence and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He is ineligible for bail.
Police said community members and area businesses have been helpful in providing additional information and evidence related to the incident. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Police Department’s crime tip line at (916) 727-5524.
“We won’t tolerate violence or gang activity in our city,” said Police Chief Ron Lawrence in Wednesday’s statement. “Thank you to those witnesses and stakeholders who help us bring these violent criminals to justice.”
