Construction of a nearly 16,000-square-foot surgery center at the corner of Stock Ranch and Sylvan Road is progressing quickly, with passersby observing the building take shape over the past few months.
The center is a cooperative effort with Dignity Health and Texas-based United Surgical Partners International, according to a January press release. The facility is expected to employ a staff of about 70 physicians and will be used for general surgery, otolaryngology, orthopedics, gastrointestinal, gynecology, ophthalmology, pain management, podiatry and urology, the release said.

Dignity Health and United Surgical Partners International now own 13 facilities in the area and 35 across four states after first partnering in 2012, according to the release.
Construction Superintendent Troy Fisher said in an interview Tuesday that there were some weather delays early in the project, but significant progress has been made. Crews are currently working on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing phase of the project, he said.
Fisher said he’s hopeful for a completion date to happen by Thanksgiving Day this year.
Other construction projects also underway around Citrus Heights include a 260-home development off Arcadia Drive, along with a 47-unit supportive housing project on Sunrise Boulevard and a new chicken fingers drive-thru in front of Hobby Lobby on Greenback Lane.
