The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce is planning an outdoor drive-in concert fundraiser at Sunrise Mall next month, giving residents a rare break from the absence of events over the past year and also helping raise funds for local businesses hurt during the pandemic.
The May 22 event is slated to kick off with a Citrus Heights Community Marching Band performance, followed by Journey Revisited taking the stage. Organizers say a barbecue food truck and an ice cream truck will be on site serving up meals and dessert, although no alcohol will be served.
According to Chamber’s Executive Director Diane Ebbitt-Riehle, the drive-in event will take place in the southeast corner of the Sunrise Mall parking lot. The cost per vehicle is $50/car, with a limit of up to six people in a vehicle.
Backstage VIP tickets, have a limit of four people per group. VIP tickets include reserved parking, meet and greet with band members, and a reception with members of the band before the event. The VIP event starts at 3 p.m., while general admission is at 4 p.m., with the event concluding at 7 p.m.
Ebbitt-Riehle said the event will be compliant with current health regulations, with cars only allowed to park every other parking slot.
According to an event flier, a maximum of 180 tickets are available to be sold. Funds raised from the event will go to the Chamber’s COVID Community Relief Fund, which was created to help businesses hurt by the pandemic.
Following the concert, Ebbitt-Riehle said a notice will be sent to all local businesses with information on how to apply for a relief grant from the Chamber.
“It will be first come first serve. But basically the more money we raise the more money we can give out,” she said.
Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite. As of April 24, there were 145 general admission tickets remaining and 16 VIP tickets.
