Schools in Citrus Heights and across the San Juan Unified School District will expand in-person learning options to four-days-a-week beginning April 26, the district announced on Tuesday.
According to board meeting briefs posted by the district this week, Superintendent Kent Kern announced during the April 13 meeting that students from TK to 12th grade will have the option of taking classes in person Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Classes will still only be held in the mornings, while “students enrolled in distance learning will continue to receive synchronous instruction each afternoon.”
Only Wednesdays will continue with remote-only learning. The district first re-opened schools on March 22 with students split into two groups. Each group currently attends on different days, for two days a week.
The district says it is planning to return to a full-time, five-day schedule at the start of the next school year, which begins August 12.
Voluntary asymptomatic testing is being provided at various schools, at no cost to individuals being tested. The district says testing is recommended every two weeks for both students and school employees.
