Sentinel staff report–
After nearly a year of indoor events being cancelled or put on hold during the coronavirus pandemic, the city recently began marketing the Citrus Heights Community Center as an ideal location to host “contactless drive-thru” events.

A flier posted on the city’s website offers a drive-thru fundraiser package, with options to rent the center’s commercial kitchen to prepare take-home meals and sell sealed alcohol.

The flier notes a prior successful drive-thru fundraiser where over 200 meals were sold, likely in reference to the Citrus Heights Kiwanis Club crab feed event last month. An online auction was also held as part of the event, with winners able to pick up items during the drive-thru event.

An announcement on the city’s website says the community center remains closed to the public “for all in-house and in-person events,” citing state guidelines for rental facilities during the pandemic.

More information about the “contactless drive-thru package” can be found at citrusheights.net.
