Sentinel staff report–
A 20-year-old Citrus Heights man was arrested early Wednesday morning after police said he allegedly forced a woman into his car and then began traveling towards home on Interstate 80.
The incident began Tuesday when the suspect, Isaiah Jones, reportedly forced another 20-year-old woman into his car in San Jose. He previously had been in a relationship with the woman, according to The Vacaville Reporter.
Jones was subsequently arrested while traveling towards Sacramento on Interstate 80, about 10 miles past Vallejo. The California Highway Patrol was notified he would likely be passing through the area and intercepted his white Ford Taurus around 4 a.m. Wednesday.
The woman was located inside the vehicle and “confirmed she was taken against her will,” according to a statement by police quoted in The Mercury News. Authorities said she suffered “minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.”
Jones is currently booked in the Santa Clara County Jail, where he remained ineligible for bail, as of Saturday morning. Police said charges include suspicion of kidnapping “and various other felony charge(s),” according to The Mercury News.
The woman involved has since been reunited with her family.
