After more than 100 days on the market and three price reductions, the historic 14-Mile House on Auburn Boulevard is now in escrow, according to listing agent Ron Benning.
Benning said the property had many unique features, making it challenging to find the right buyer, but on Friday the listing was updated to indicate a pending sale. While not divulging any specifics about the buyer, Benning told The Sentinel it is “somebody who intends to live in the property,” rather than rent it out.
Originally built sometime between 1849 and 1851, the 14-Mile House recently underwent an extensive remodel. However, the original look and feel of the historic building was maintained, according to the listing.
The two-story, 2,100-square-foot home originally served those traveling through the region during the Gold Rush Era. The unique property has separate living quarters upstairs and downstairs, each with their own entrance, allowing for rental or multi-family options.
Records show the former inn and roadhouse was listed for sale in the beginning of August for $499,900, but had progressively been reduced to $425,000.
