Residents in the area of Sylvan Road in Citrus Heights are being advised to expect the smells and sights of smoke over the next few weeks, as Metro Fire continues its “live fire” training at Heights Church.
The church, formerly called Bayside Church of Citrus Heights, is located at 6446 Sylvan Rd. Trainings are slated for Nov. 9, 10, 17, 18, 20 and 25.
In a news release, Metro Fire said the church provided buildings at the site for use by firefighters. The buildings were already planned for demolition, making for a valuable training opportunity for firefighters using live fire.
Video shared by Metro Fire after Monday’s training showed pallets being lit on fire inside one of the buildings, with firefighters then entering to extinguish the blaze and conduct search and rescue.
Metro Fire also conducted live trainings at the same location earlier this year.
