Citrus Heights police responded to a report of a gunshot in a residential neighborhood off Antelope Road over the weekend, drawing a heavy police response.
Police Lt. Michael Wells told The Sentinel in an email Tuesday that officers responded to the report of a single gunshot being fired on Saturday night near a home on the 7000 block of Amsterdam Avenue. He said officers surrounded the home and eventually made contact with the residents, where it was determined no shots had been fired.
“During a canvass of the area by officers, numerous independent witnesses stated they did not hear any gun shots,” Wells said. No ammunition casings or bullet holes were located in the area either.
Wells called the incident a dispute between residents in the home and two other individuals who did not live there. Those individuals had left the scene before officers arrived and police could not determine what occurred during the altercation, Wells said.
Public comments on social media at the time of the incident described hearing reports of two “shooters” on the police scanner channel. There was also a heavy police presence reported in the area.
