SacBee announces plans for move, 200 layoffs
The Sacramento Bee will be moving from its Q Street offices downtown and will layoff 61 full-time and 138 part-time production employees during the move, according to KCRA. The move will occur by July next year and will “neutralize” the paper’s loss in advertising revenue, according to the Bee’s Lauren Gustus. (See SacBee article)
Three DUI arrests made during Sept. 25 checkpoint
The Citrus Heights Police Department held a DUI Checkpoint operation on Friday night on Antelope Road at Lauppe Lane, stopping 926 vehicles and conducting 10 field sobriety tests. One arrest was made for an alcohol DUI, and two DUI drug arrests were made, police said. Another felony arrest was made for an unspecified cause, and 27 citations were issued for unlicensed/suspended drivers.
Suspect sought after allegedly setting fire outside preschool
A man allegedly started to light a fire outside the Little Friends Learning Center on Woodmore Oaks Drive after being denied a soda from a staff member, CBS 13 reported Friday. Photos have been released by the school in hopes of identifying the man. (See story)
Day care center employee fired after alleged child abuse
An employee at KinderCare Learning Center in Citrus Heights was fired after a mother alleged that an employee “dragged” her son by the arm into the administrative office, according to KCRA. The mother said her son complained of pain and was reportedly found to have torn ligaments and “a slight fracture in his elbow area.” (See full story)
