The Sunrise MarketPlace has announced two more drive-in “Carpool Cinema” showings for the month of August, following an inaugural showing last month.

Reserved spots for the screening of Sonic the Hedgehog, the first in the summer series, were snapped up within a day of the announcement according to organizers.

This week’s planned screening of Harry and the Hendersons was also sold out quickly, but a last-minute update from organizers on Facebook says the date, originally planned for Aug. 14, has now been postponed to Aug. 28.

The next in the biweekly series will be Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, screening Aug. 29, and spots are still available as of press time Thursday.

Kathilynn Carpenter, executive director of Sunrise Marketplace said she hopes the events will bring much needed business to the area while giving people a chance to have a night out.

Future screenings are planned for Sing and Grease, in September.

Showings are currently held in the Sunrise Village shopping plaza at the corner of Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane. Reservations can be made online on Sunrise MarketPlace’s Eventbrite page.
