Crime scene tape outside a Citrus Heights home on Sunday caused speculation and rumors to spread on social media, as police investigated a death at a home in the area of Glen Tree Drive.
Lieutenant Michael Wells of the Citrus Heights Police Department confirmed with The Sentinel in an email Tuesday that officers were conducting a death investigation. He said police do not suspect foul play at this time, but, as a standard procedure, a final decision will not be made until results of an autopsy are received.

“With these investigations we treat them with an abundance of caution which is the reason for the crime scene tape at the location,” Wells said.
Autopsy results are currently pending. No deaths are listed currently on the Coroner’s website on Glen Tree Drive.
The deceased individual’s identity has not been released.
