Obituary: Eileen Morarity
Longtime Citrus Heights resident Eileen Morarity passed away last month on June 17, according to an obituary published in The Sacramento Bee last week. Born in Kentucky, Morarity and her husband moved to Citrus Heights in 1965, where she became active as a volunteer at Holy Family Church. A private funeral was held July 10. (See full obituary)
Citrus Heights council shoots down Daniels’ police proposal
Citrus Heights Councilman Bret Daniels during Thursday night’s council meeting proposed the drafting of a resolution formally supporting law enforcement and opposing national efforts to defund police, but he did not get a necessary second vote of support from his fellow council members to put the proposal on a future council agenda. Daniels’ colleagues said the resolution was unnecessary, since the council is already vocal about its support for police.
Citrus Heights police nab flag thief suspect
Citrus Heights Police Chief Ron Lawrence said in a Tweet on Sunday that several American flags stolen from a local business on July 4th were recovered after police located the suspect. (See tweet/video)
District posts video highlighting San Juan High School’s role in local BLM march
The San Juan Unified School District uploaded an unlisted video to the district’s YouTube account on Tuesday featuring interviews with two San Juan High School students who credited teachers with helping organize a Black Lives Matter march in Citrus Heights last month. (See video)
