The Citrus Heights location of Chuck E. Cheese’s remains open amid a bankruptcy filing by parent company CEC Entertainment.
The Texas-based corporation said in a press release June 24 that its Chapter 11 filing resulted from “prolonged COVID-19 related venue closures.” the company’s CEO called the pandemic “the most challenging event in our company’s history.”
The Citrus Heights location on Wednesday was open for take out and delivery, according to a sign at the entrance. A manager on site declined to comment when contacted by phone Wednesday.
The company hopes the filing will allow it to continue negotiations with investors and landlords as it restructures, according to the release.
According to USA Today, CEC Entertainment has filed plans to reject 45 leases at locations throughout the U.S., including five in California. The Citrus Heights location does not appear on the list.
