Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights City Council members will meet Thursday night for a study session regarding opportunities for housing funding, followed by a regular meeting to vote on street repaving, traffic data collection and a COVID-19 relief proposal for restaurants.
The study session will begin at 6:15 p.m. and will be live-streamed on the city’s Youtube channel. The regular meeting will also be live-streamed, beginning at 7 p.m.
Items of note on the council’s 62-page agenda packet are summarized below:
Road repaving. The council will consider approving a list of 11 streets, mostly courts, to be repaved over the next year utilizing about $1.5 million from SB 1 gas tax funds. The council is also slated to accept as complete a $1.5 million resurfacing project for 2019, which included repairs and overlays on 13 residential streets, totaling about two miles.
Traffic data collection. The City Council will consider approving a staff recommendation for a five-year contract with National Data & Surveying Services (NDS), for providing on-call traffic data services. The contract calls for a cap of $30,000 per year and a total contract cap of $150,000.
COVID-19 relief. The City Council will consider approving a pair of staff recommendations related to COVID-19. One action would automatically extend the expiration date for unexpired development projects by five years, while the second motion would allow restaurants to temporarily use parking areas for outdoor dining.
Thursday’s meeting will also include a presentation from the police department regarding a fireworks operation plan. City employee recognition will also take place during a presentation at the beginning of the meeting.
The City Council’s June 25 meeting will be closed to the public due to coronavirus concerns. Those wishing to submit public comment in advance can submit up to 250 words to cityclerk@citrusheights.net.
