Possible DeAngelo guilty plea deal could avoid death penalty trial
The Sacramento Bee reported Monday that Joseph DeAngelo, the Citrus Heights resident accused of being the Golden State Killer, could accept a deal to plead guilty and avoid a death penalty trial. According to the Bee, four sources confirmed a plea deal agreement, although the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office did not provide comment. An upcoming hearing is scheduled for June 29. Four Citrus Heights schools continuing free meals thru summer
Continuing through July 31, four Citrus Heights schools are making available free breakfast and lunch to-go meals. Meals are available to anyone under age 18, regardless of what school the child attends, according to information posted at sanjuan.edu. Participating schools are: Kingswood K-8, Lichen K-8, Woodside K-8, and Carriage Drive Elementary. (See more details)
Obituary: Janice Faye Myers (1938-2020)
Janice Myers, who lived in Citrus Heights for 50 years, passed away on June 13, according to an online obituary. Myers was born in 1938 in Richmond, Calif., and later moved to Citrus Heights in 1962 where she was a full-time homemaker. She taught Sunday School for more than 40 years and is described as having the “gift of hospitality.” Myers suffered a massive brain hemorrhage in 2013 that led to her move to Oregon to live with family. She is survived by her husband, four children, 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. (See full obituary)
