Farmers Market in Citrus Heights continues amid pandemic
The weekly farmers market outside Sunrise Mall has continued through the coronavirus pandemic, with dozens of shoppers observed perusing the stands set up in the parking lot on Saturday. Organizers say the farmers market will continue each Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Stolen truck from Citrus Heights found at suspected ‘chop shop’ in Nevada County
A 42-year-old man and another individual were arrested Thursday after a search warrant was issued for a property in Nevada County. The Union reported Friday that several stolen vehicles, including a pickup truck from Citrus Heights, were found at the property. (See full story)
Single mom from Citrus Heights behind Facebook group calling for end to shutdowns
KQED reported last week that Jenn Thomas, a 40-year-old single mom from Citrus Heights, is one of the voices calling for an end to California’s shutdowns of businesses deemed “non-essential” during the coronavirus pandemic. Thomas runs a hair salon and told KQED that money is running out and she’s concerned about not being able to pay her mortgage. She helps run the Facebook group, “Californians Against Excessive Quarantine,” which has quickly grown to nearly 10,000 members in less than 30 days. (Read story)
Public library launches new ‘virtual job coach’ to help job-seekers
The Sacramento Public Library system has launched a new online program to assist those in search of a job. The library says its new Virtual Job Coach can assist “with everything from finding a job, editing a resume, refreshing your interview skills and training to help you further your career.” More information can be found at saclibrary.org.
Local Citrus Heights clothing, kids store finds creative way to stay open
Once Upon a Child in Citrus Heights remains open while other retailers stay shuttered amid the coronavirus pandemic, KCRA reported last week. The local store offers curbside pickup, with customers able to call ahead and describe what they’re looking for and what their budget is. (See video)
Golden State Killer suspect’s preliminary hearing delayed due to pandemic
The Ventura County Star reported Wednesday that a preliminary hearing for Joseph DeAngelo, the suspected Golden State Killer from Citrus Heights, was delayed last week due to the current coronavirus pandemic. (See article)
