The City of Citrus Heights on Friday alerted residents of immediate changes in effect for garbage collection in the city, in response to COVID-19 concerns.
Effective immediately, the city said sharps collection, curbside battery pickup and used oil collection services are temporarily suspended. Semi-annual neighborhood cleanups are also temporarily suspended.
The city said weekly waste collection from Republic Services will continue on regular collection dates for garbage, green waste and recycling carts.
Residents seeking to drop off sharps, batteries and used oil can do so at the North Area Recovery Station Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 4450 Roseville Road, the city said.
Residents who had a scheduled neighborhood cleanup in April can take their items for free to Republic Services’ transfer station at 8642 Elder Creek Rd., in Sacramento. The city said households are limited to dropping off two loads, approximately the size of a pick-up truck bed.
