[RE: City ‘leaning’ towards permanent lane reduction on Old Auburn; March 1st] I travel the corridor of Old Auburn Road five to six times a week, traveling west from the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard. I have been doing this for years and have witnessed the various temporary adjustments that have been on trial.
I can testify that every lane reduction test plan did not improve — but greatly hampered — travel westbound on Old Auburn in this area. This western corridor must accommodate both traffic remaining westbound on Old Auburn and the right lane traffic merging off onto Antelope Road.
Trust me, I have already seen this fail in trial on many occasions and fear a permanent poor decision may be considered.
Please be assured that any automobile lane reduction is not a resolution to a traffic congestion but only creates a bottleneck to increase that congestion in intensity.

Rubber speed bumps on Old Auburn?
Has anyone thought of purchasing deluxe rubber speed bumps for Fair Oaks Boulevard, where it T’s into Old Auburn Road? Just putting them down on the last half of Fair Oaks between Old Auburn and Oak Avenue, the drivers should slow down enough to make the turn on Old Auburn Road without sliding into the flower boxes and destroying them.
