Metro Fire shares video highlights from 2019
Metro Fire posted a five-minute video on Thursday showing highlights from the district’s past year, which included responding to 97,366 emergency calls and extinguishing 2,689. The video says there were a total of 669 Metro Fire employees in 2019, with 41 stations district-wide — four of which are in Citrus Heights. (See video)

Citrus Heights diver featured on ABC 10
“Merman Mike,” as he’s known on Youtube, was featured in an ABC 10 spot on Friday, highlighting his efforts to clean up trash and find treasures in local lakes and rivers. The diver, Michael Pelley, lives in Citrus Heights and has a Youtube channel with several thousand followers. (See ABC 10 video)

Obituary: Ronald James Porter (1958-2020)
A funeral was held Saturday for Citrus Heights resident Ronald Porter, who passed away on Jan. 27. According to his obituary, published in The Sacramento Bee last week, the 61-year-old was born in Roseville and is survived by his mother and two brothers. (See obituary)

Police post ‘caught on camera’ video of officer playing basketball with kids
Citrus Heights police posted a video clip on social media last week showing a uniformed officer taking a moment to shoot some hoops with some kids in a residential area of the city. (See video)
