The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band is inviting the public to attend an “informational open house” event on Jan. 27 at Lichen K-8 School.
According to a press release, attendees will be able to talk with band members and directors, as well as watch a demonstration of a practice session.
“We’re encouraging people – young and old – who would enjoy being in a band to attend and find out about us,” said Kathy Cook, the marching band’s program director. “[E]ven though marching is part of our name, some of our members cannot march, so they only do our concert performances.”
The press release also states there is no cost to be in the band. Uniforms and “loaner” instruments are provided free of charge, though it is appreciated if members have their own instruments.
More than 60 people are currently in the band, ranging in age from 9 to 89. Positions sought include musicians, color and honor guards, flag and dance team members, and musicians.
Those interested do not have to be a Citrus Heights resident to join. Members include residents of Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Roseville, Rocklin, Loomis, Antelope, Carmichael, Placerville, Yuba City, and Sacramento.
The Jan. 27 open house will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at 8319 Lichen Drive.
