Citrus Heights mayor says changes on Fair Oaks Blvd about safety, not speed
Citrus Heights Mayor Jeff Slowey in remarks made during Thursday night’s City Council meeting said he’s heard a lot of “angst” over some proposed changes being discussed for the intersection at Fair Oaks Boulevard and Old Auburn Road. “At the end of the day, what we come up with… is to make that a safer intersection,” said Slowey. “Not so much worried if it adds a minute or two of somebody’s time to get to work in the morning. We want you to get there safely.”

Teens face charges in killing of Citrus Heights girl
Three teens have been arrested following the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl in West Sacramento. The girl was identified as Samantha Farris, of Citrus Heights, by The Sacramento Bee and other media outlets on Monday. ABC10 features spotlight on Sunrise Mall plan
Following the launch of a new city website about the future of Sunrise Mall last week, ABC 10 aired a two-minute segment on Wednesday highlighting the website and the city’s efforts to revamp the mall. Obituary: Gail “Chuck” Hamilton
Citrus Heights resident and former police officer Gail “Chuck” Hamilton died last month at age 85. According to a Jan. 5 obituary published in The Sacramento Bee, Hamilton served as a police officer for 33 years with the Sacramento Police Department and leaves behind five sons, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce. (Read full obituary)
