Police release results from holiday DUI checkpoint
A total of 908 vehicles were stopped during a drivers license and DUI checkpoint operation held on Greenback Lane at Birdcage Street on Friday night. Police reported that no arrests for DUI were made, but eight sobriety field tests were administered and 13 citations were issued for various traffic and vehicle code violations. Two vehicles were also towed. Police did not announce the checkpoint in advance with a news release.

Suspect in Yaris leads police on slow-speed chase from Citrus Heights to Auburn
A 26-year-old suspect driving a Toyota Yaris led police on a chase after officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Grand Oaks Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, according to Gold Country Media. The suspect took off and led police on an under-the-speed-limit chase up I-80 to Auburn and then back to Rocklin, where he was finally stopped and arrested. (Read story)

School bus crashes into Citrus Heights home
Fox40 reported that a San Juan Unified School District school bus crashed into a home in Citrus Heights on Monday morning. The incident occurred on Tupelo Drive. No students were on board at the time, and no injuries were reported. The driver told authorities he had fallen asleep. (See Fox40 story)
