SPCA book sale fundraiser going on at Sunrise Mall thru Nov. 17

By Rylie Friesen
The Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is hosting its annual fall book sale at Sunrise Mall through Sunday, Nov. 17, in order to raise funds for animals they shelter.

According to a listing for the event on Facebook, genres of books offered include “Adventure, Biographies, Children, Cookbooks, Fiction, History, Mystery, Nearly New, Romance, Science Fiction, Table Top, and more.”

The book sale is set up near the Macy’s Men’s store inside the mall, with regular hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Book donations are also accepted during open hours.

Founded in 1892, the SPCA’s mission has been to reduce pet overpopulation, promote the human treatment of animals, as well as assist pet owners, all in order to benefit the lives of the animals.

According to the Sacramento SPCA website, the organization’s shelter is an “open admission animal shelter, which means we accept animals that are surrendered to us regardless of health, age, breed, or behaviour.”

The organization is also dedicated to a “no kill” policy, which it practices by providing medical care and adoptions, as well as training. For more information visit www.sspca.org.
