Citrus Heights News Briefs: drug drop-off, bait arrests, fundraiser

Latest news briefs include an upcoming local fundraiser for slain Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Ishmael, more bait arrests announced by Citrus Heights police, and a report from last weekend’s drug drop-off event at police headquarters.

CHPD: over 300lbs of meds collected during drop-off event
The Citrus Heights Police Department reported a total of 12 boxes weighing 346 pounds were collected during the department’s prescription drug drop-off event on Oct. 26th. The event was held in coordination with a nationwide effort to reduce prescription drug abuse through free drop-off events for unused or expired medications. (See CHPD post)

Local Texas Roadhouse to hold fundraiser for slain deputy
Texas Roadhouse locations in Citrus Heights and Elk Grove will both be participating in a “dine to donate” fundraiser on Nov. 4th. Managing Partner Joseph Sevier said 10% of total food purchases will be given to the Deputy Brian Ishmael Memorial Fund, for any diners bringing in a donation flier on Nov. 4, from 3-10 p.m. (See flier)

Citrus Heights police announce 53rd bait arrest for 2019
Citrus Heights police announced two new bait arrests in social media postings on Tuesday, listing Kyle Conrad and Meiko Lewis as the latest suspects to be nabbed by the department’s bait program. Conrad, a 29-year-old from Sacramento, is currently being held without bail and has prior arrests for weapons-related violations while being a felon, resisting arrest, burglary, possession of stolen property, grand theft, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, vehicle theft and battery, according to police. As of Thursday, Lewis did not appear on inmate records for the Sacramento County Jail. Police Lt. Chad Morris told The Sentinel 53 suspects have been arrested with bait so far this year.
