After first opening its doors for patients last month, Dignity Health will be hosting a grand opening community event this Sunday to celebrate its new 68,000-square-foot medical building on Greenback Lane. An invite-only ribbon cutting was also held on Wednesday.
The grand opening event will take place on Oct. 13 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at 7115 Greenback Ln., with tours of the facility to be offered, along with a chance to meet the Dignity Health team and doctors.
Spokeswoman Brooke Burgess said the event will also feature a “Kids Kindness Corner,” with face painting, characters, games and prizes. The police department’s SWAT Team and K-9 unit will also be on scene.
Live demonstrations, music, food and refreshments are also on tap. A therapy horse, Metro Fire personnel, and a “vintage air stream photo booth” will also be part of the event.
Citrus Heights Mayor Jeannie Bruins called the opening of the new building a “red letter day for Citrus Heights” and said she welcomed the addition of new high-level jobs in the community.
“Dignity Health is a great addition to our city and I look forward to having them serve our community with high quality medical care for many generations,” said Bruins in a news release issued by Dignity Health following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
According to Dignity Health’s website, the new three-story facility began seeing patients on Sept. 16, with services offered for family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics. Geriatrics and palliative care are also offered.
Additional services are slated to open on Nov. 18 for allergy, behavioral health, endocrinology, ophthamology/optometry, pain management and rheumatology. Dermatology is expected to be added next year.
The medical building first broke ground on May 23, 2017, following the demolition of the old city hall which was formerly located at the site. The new three-story building features 126 exam rooms, along with a Quest Lab, x-ray and cafe.
