Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include reports of transients causing trouble at the site of the future Studio Movie Grill, a residential burglary resulting in the loss of more than $8,000 in valuables, and a man wearing a gold mask trying to open fraudulent accounts at a local credit union.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Oct. 1, 2019. Additional logs are linked below.
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019: Total of 65 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 21 calls regarding suspicious activities, 10 disturbance-related, 7 homeless-related, 4 petty thefts, 1 grand theft, 3 burglary, 8 assault reports, 1 hit-and-run collision.
7:39 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, future Studio Movie Grill site on Auburn Blvd. An ongoing issue was reported to police involving several transients repeatedly cutting a construction fence and camping between the site of the future Studio Movie Grill and Interstate 80. Police were also advised of minor thefts from the job site, but all items had so far been recovered.
8:47 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. A 1992 green Honda Accord was reportedly stolen from the Montage Apartment complex, sometime between midnight and 5 a.m. The caller said all keys had been accounted for, the vehicle was locked, and no one else had permission to drive it.
10:54 a.m., Petty Theft, Shell at Antelope/Auburn. Police were contacted about an ongoing issue involving a transient “constantly” breaking into a fire extinguisher box and stealing the fire extinguisher at the Shell gas station on the corner of Antelope Road and Auburn Boulevard. Surveillance video was offered.
11:36 a.m., Burglary, Goldenwood Cr. A burglary involving the loss of more than $8,000 in valuables was reported at a residence on a sidestreet off Verner Avenue near Calvary Cemetery. Entry had been made through a rear door, and items stolen included an iPad Pro, jewelry, Nintendo and Playstation gaming systems, and a $3,500 Samsung television.
12:12 p.m., Assault, Costco #771 on Auburn Blvd. An argument between a man and woman was overheard in the nature preserve behind Costco, with the pair reportedly “throwing items at each other.” The male was heard saying “give me my knife.”
2:30 p.m., Vandalism, Mariposa Ave. The owner of a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder contacted police and reported that someone had apparently “drilled into his gas tank.” The caller advised police that he was waiting for a tow truck to take the vehicle to a repair shop.
4:01 p.m., Reckless Driving, Greenback/Auburn. Police were contacted by a man who said a red Tesla vehicle “ran him off the road” near Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard. No further information was provided.
5:15 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Walmart Market #4795 on Sunrise Blvd. Several teenagers were reportedly selling candy in front of Walmart without a permit.
5:27 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, San Juan Park on Mariposa Ave. Police were advised that two transients were loitering in the rear corner of San Juan Park. The caller told police the pair were “not doing anything specific,” but were “making people feel uncomfortable.”
6:03 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Patelco Credit Union on Sunrise Blvd. A man with a “gold mask on his face” was reportedly trying to open fraudulent accounts at Patelco Credit Union. A guard was asking the man to take his mask off at the time the report was made.
6:05 p.m., Petty Theft, Riebes Auto Center on Auburn Blvd. A man in his 30s reportedly walked out of Riebes Auto Center with a new vehicle battery, got into an older Chevy pickup and left without paying for the item.
7:19 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Gettysburg Ln. Police were contacted by a resident in the Creekside Estates mobile home park who said a man in his early 20s had just come to his door and said he was “being chased by a person with a gun.” Police were advised that the man appeared to be a transient who may have also been under the influence of drugs.
9:24 p.m., Assault, Checkerbloom Wy. A parent called police to report that their son had assaulted their daughter. No further information was listed.
11:11 p.m., Driving Under the Influence, Auburn/Sylvan. Police were advised that a patron was observed stumbling from Rocky’s 7440 Club into a Nissan Altima.
