Stones Gambling Hall investigating cheating allegations
Following widespread online speculation that a regular player on Stones Gambling Hall’s live-streamed online poker games has been cheating, KCRA 3 and other news outlets reported the casino has temporarily halted all broadcasts and the use of RFID playing cards while it launches a “multi-faceted investigation into every element of these games.” (See video)
Kitten rescued from inside wall of Marie Callender’s restaurant
CBS 13 reported Thursday that a kitten was found trapped in a wall of the former Marie Callender’s restaurant in Citrus Heights. Several contractors heard the kitten meowing and cut into the wall to find the cat trapped inside. (See video)
Citrus Heights man sentenced to 15 years for killing wife
Michael Abeyta, who was arrested on suspicion of killing his wife Trang Tran and dumping her body in Placer County last year, was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison this week. According to Fox 40, friends of Tran had warned her that Abeyta was “not a good person.” (See Fox 40 interview)
Arrest made after Citrus Heights veteran killed in hit-and-run crash
KCRA 3 reported Saturday that an arrest has been made after a 73-year-old man from Citrus Heights was hit by a truck and killed Wednesday while walking across the street near McClellan Park. (See full story)
