Bayside Church helps clean up Sylvan Middle School
More than 100 volunteers participated in a school beautification project at Sylvan Middle School on Saturday, as part of a “Serve Day” organized by Bayside of Citrus Heights. According to a post on Facebook from the school, volunteers spread bark, pulled weeds, power washed cement, scraped gum, picked up trash and organized the library. (See Facebook post)

‘Family Night’ to feature live horses, free kids meals at Texas Roadhouse
The Texas Roadhouse restaurant at 6309 Sunrise Blvd. will be hosting a Family Night event from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 1, featuring face painting, balloon animals, games and live horses. Free kids meals will be offered for up to two kids per purchase of one adult entree, according to an event flier. (See flier)

Citrus Heights loses SearchPros
SearchPros, which was listed as one of the fastest-growing companies in the region, has moved its headquarters from Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights to a larger office space in the Arden area, the Sacramento Business Journal reported Friday. A company executive said the move was due to outgrowing the former space at 6363 Auburn Blvd.

Citrus Heights councilwoman appointed by governor to housing position
Citrus Heights Councilwoman Porsche Middleton was appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday to a position with the California Housing Partnership Corporation. The nonprofit organization was created by the legislature in 1988 by serving as a “do-and-think-tank” to help provide sustainable and affordable housing to working families, homeless, veterans, seniors and the disabled, according to the organization’s website. Two homes damaged by fire in Citrus Heights
CBS 13 reported that a two-alarm fire broke out shortly after midnight on Wednesday on Woodlock Way near Greenback Lane, causing damage to two homes. The cause of fire was not immediately known, but may have started in a shed between the two homes. (See CBS 13 video)
