Sentinel staff report–
Those looking for some family fun this weekend will find it on both Saturday and Sunday in Citrus Heights. Sunday will feature the 23rd annual Sunday Funday at Rusch Park, while Saturday will feature a new Fall Fest event outside Sunrise Mall.
Fall Fest is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 21, with organizers from the Sunrise MarketPlace (SMP) announcing the event will feature live music from Todd Morgan & the Emblems, along with food trucks and plenty of activities for kids. On the SMP’s Facebook page, pictures of a “Human Gyroscope” ride and a surfing ride on a mechanical surfboard are highlighted among free activities scheduled.
Other activities listed on the event’s website include a “coconut tree climb,” a “euro bungee trampoline,” face painting and balloon art. Additionally, a Classic Car Showcase, with cars from the California Automotive Museum, will be part of the event.
The regularly scheduled Farmers Market, held each Saturday behind the mall, will also offer fresh produce and handmade crafts.
The Sunrise MarketPlace was formed in 1999 as a business improvement district that represents more than 400 businesses in the commercial corridor near Sunrise Mall.
The district regularly hosts events, including a recent craft beer festival and a popular annual Holiday Laser Light Show that is held in the parking lot at Lowe’s.
