Sentinel staff report–
Citrus Heights police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 31-year-old residential burglary suspect who was identified after surveillance photos were released by police on social media last month.

The suspect, Adam Jewell, was arrested and found with items from a residential burglary that occurred around 11 p.m. on Aug. 3, on the 6500 block of Greencreek Way, near Dewey Drive and Greenback Lane. The day after the incident, police posted three surveillance photos of a suspect on social media and asked the public to contact police with any information.

The post was shared over 350 times on Facebook, with additional shares on Instagram and Twitter.

“Thanks to your tips, the suspect was identified and a warrant issued for his arrest,” police said in a Sept. 17 update, accompanied with a booking photo of Jewell.

The arrest announcement quickly drew more than 500 likes and more than 50 comments on the police department’s Facebook page. One commenter said she was a member of the family that was robbed and expressed gratitude to police for their “tireless efforts to get him.”

Another commenter said the arrest showed “The positive of social media… community coming together.”

Online inmate records indicate Adam Ross Jewell is charged with felony burglary and another felony for the unlawful taking of a firearm. He is currently being held on $50,000 bail.
