Sentinel staff report–
Black smoke billowed into the air and several lanes of Antelope Road were closed down on Monday as firefighters responded to the scene of a mobile home fire near the intersection of Antelope Road and Auburn Boulevard.

Metro Fire Captain Chris Vestal told The Sentinel one mobile home was a total loss and another mobile home was also damaged. No injuries were reported.

Charred remains of the home could be seen from Antelope Road on Monday afternoon, with firefighters still on-scene hosing down the area around 1 p.m. The fire was reported around noon on Labor Day.

Asked on Thursday for an update on the cause of fire, Vestal said the fire was determined to have originated in an outbuilding. Due to that structure being destroyed in the fire, however, Vestal said investigators were not able “to recover/process any definitive signs leading us to the cause.”

The fire occurred at the Auburn Vista Mobile Home Park, which is located at 7721 Auburn Blvd., behind Bischoff’s Medical Supplies.
