Latest local police logs include reports of a man with a “large spear” in a residential neighborhood, a woman brake-checking other drivers on Sunrise Boulevard, and a cash register being stolen during a burglary at a local restaurant.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Aug. 21, 2019.
Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019: Total of 74 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 20 calls regarding suspicious activities, 15 disturbance-related, 12 homeless-related, 4 petty thefts, 5 burglaries, 1 assault report, 7 collisions.
3:10 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Sunrise Center Apartments on Sunrise Vista Dr. A vehicle was reportedly broken into at an apartment complex, with cards from a stolen wallet already fraudulently used. A green card was also missing.
7:33 a.m., Burglary, The Angry Bird Hot Chicken on Sunrise Blvd. A cash register was reportedly stolen from the recently opened Angry Bird restaurant on Sunrise Boulevard.
9:00 a.m., Petty Theft, Macy’s. A grab-and-run theft from Macy’s Mens that occurred three days prior was reported to police. The value of items stolen was listed at $650. Police were advised that surveillance video was available, along with license plate and suspect information. Another petty theft incident was reported the same day at JC Penney.
9:45 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, AM/PM at Madison/San Juan. Police were contacted after a male was reportedly screaming and yelling at customers at a gas station convenience store at the corner of Madison Avenue and San Juan Avenue. Police were advised that the man appeared to be under the influence and was also “foaming from mouth.”
9:58 a.m., Vandalism, New Shanghai on Auburn Blvd. The front glass door was reportedly found shattered at the New Shanghai restaurant on Auburn Boulevard.
10:26 a.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Glen Creek Wy. A man in his 40s was reportedly waiving around a large knife near Madera Park and was yelling obscenities.
11:00 a.m., Petty Theft, Joshua Ct. Police were contacted by a man who said he had accidentally thrown his temporary license plates into the trash after receiving permanent plates from the DMV the prior month. Two days after tossing the plates away, he said someone had stolen them out of the trash and put them on a different vehicle. He said he was made aware of the issue after receiving a San Francisco parking violation in the mail.
12:12 p.m., Reckless Driving, Fountain Square Dr. Police were advised that a man had been observed “video taping himself” while sitting on the trunk of a moving vehicle that was traveling near the police station and City Hall.
12:17 p.m., Reckless Driving, Sunrise/Woodmore Oaks. A black Ford Explorer with no brake lights was reportedly speeding and brake-checking other vehicles while traveling southbound on Sunrise Boulevard. The caller said it appeared the driver was trying to get other drivers to rear-end her.
12:31 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Tishimingo Ct. Police received a report that a man with a “large spear in his hand” was knocking on the front door of a residence on a small court near Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard.
2:11 p.m., Homeless Camp, Sylvan Middle School on Auburn Blvd. A large homeless camp was reportedly being set up on the Auburn Boulevard frontage road, near Sylvan Middle School.
3:36 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Flaming Arrow Drive. Police were advised that a man in his 40s was seen walking through a neighborhood with a weed eater. The caller told police the weed eater was believed to be stolen and that he was casing the neighborhood.
4:20 p.m., Vandalism, Mariposa/Farmgate. Construction workers pouring concrete near Mariposa Avenue and Farmgate Way reported that a man had just damaged their concrete project. Police were advised that the man was still on scene drinking a beer with several other people.
11:15 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Shadow Oak Drive. Police were contacted after a barking dog alerted a vehicle owner to several suspects breaking into his car on a residential street near Brooktree Park. The caller said he had gone outside and found his car door wide open and two suspects walking down the street looking into another vehicle.
