Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include reports of gang graffiti near Greenback Lane, a customer asking a female employee at a gas station for a kiss, and a man carrying a case of beer threatening to kill people outside Sunrise Mall.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for July 30, 2019. Additional logs are linked below.
Tuesday, July 30, 2019: Total of 91 incidents reported. Incident report categories of note: 13 calls regarding suspicious activities, 28 disturbance-related, 9 homeless-related, 6 petty thefts, 2 burglaries, no grand thefts, 2 hit-and-runs, and 1 report of a stolen vehicle.
12:38 a.m., Homeless Camp, Walgreens at Greenback/Dewey. A transient couple reportedly had set up camp in the parking lot of Walgreen and had a “large amount” of property with them.
1:18 a.m., Disturbance Verbal, 76 Gas Station at Lichen/Antelope. Police were contacted after a drunk male entered the gas station’s convenience store just after 1 a.m. and got into an argument with the clerk over the transaction. Before leaving, he reportedly tried to get behind the counter and assault the clerk.
9:10 a.m., Homeless Camp, Auburn/Greenback. A resident told police they were trying to clean up a homeless camp in a greenbelt area behind Creekside Condominiums and requested assistance from an officer to check the camp for transients.
10:52 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Spring Creek Apartments on Greenback Ln. A 2001 Ford Mustang was reportedly broken into while parked at an apartment complex. The car’s battery, stereo and other items were stolen. The door lock was also damaged during forced entry.
12:51 p.m., Reckless Driving, Sunrise/Antelope. Police were contacted after a woman was seen texting and driving on Sunrise Boulevard in a white Honda Civic.
1:20 p.m., Petty Theft, Garry Oak Drive. A Polaris pool sweep was reportedly stolen from a residence on Garry Oak Drive, with the value reported at $675. Police were advised that the suspect(s) left behind a liquor bottle.
2:50 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Sunrise Mall. A man in his 50s was reportedly seen carrying a case of beer and walking around in front of the Women’s Macy’s at Sunrise Mall, telling people he was “going to kill them.” Police were advised that the man had been drinking.
3:03 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, AM/PM at Madison/San Juan. Police were contacted after a man in his late 40s reportedly entered a gas station convenience store and asked a female employee to kiss him, before reaching over the counter and trying to touch her.
3:39 p.m., Graffiti Public Property, Burich/Greenback. Gang graffiti reading “SUR13” was reportedly seen on a sidewalk on Burich Avenue, 500 feet north of Greenback Lane. The graffiti appears to be a reference to the Sureño gang, which is a Mexican-American street gang that identifies with the number 13.
4:08 p.m., Assault, Rusch Park. A basketball referee reported being punched in the back by a player at Rusch Park after being called for a foul. The incident occurred two days prior to police being contacted.
4:23 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Cross Drive. Police were contacted by a resident who said they had received a call from someone claiming to be with the FBI. The resident was told to pay the caller using a gift card from Walmart, which the resident did.
5:56 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Rusch Skate Park on Antelope Rd. Five teens at the Rusch Skate Park were reportedly refusing to wear helmets and were refusing to stop skating.
7:51 p.m., Burglary, Montage Apartments on Fair Oaks Blvd. Police were advised of an attempted burglary at an apartment complex, with entry made through a slider. Nothing was reported missing.
9:37 p.m., Hit and Run Non-Injury, Dollar Tree on Sunrise Blvd. A female driver reportedly side-swiped another vehicle outside Dollar Tree and left the scene without stopping.
