The 19-year-old motorcyclist who was severely injured in a collision on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights last Friday is expected to survive, police said in an update on Tuesday.
Lt. Kris Frey told The Sentinel his department had received word Tuesday morning that hospital staff expect the man to make a full recovery. It was initially unclear whether the man would survive, as he was transported to the hospital and placed in an intensive care unit with injuries described as major.
Frey said the collision involved a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a silver sedan. He said the cause of collision is still under investigation, with no further details released, other than an initial investigation found impairment did “not appear to be a factor.”
The collision occurred on westbound Greenback Lane around 5:43 p.m. on July 26 near Birdcage Street, with responding officers finding an adult male down in the roadway upon arrival. Frey said a witness had observed the man removing his helmet following the collision.
The driver of the sedan was cooperative with police.
The collision caused westbound lanes of Greenback to be closed for about five hours, with the roadway being reopened around 11:30 p.m.
