Resident says wild turkey population getting ‘totally out of control’
A Citrus Heights resident told City Council members at the council’s July 25 meeting that the city’s wild turkey population is getting “totally out of control,” with the turkeys destroying her shingles and mulch and damaging other parts of her property. Mayor Jeannie Bruins responded that she would look into what could be done and said she has observed an “explosion” in the turkey population in recent years.
District Attorney warns of new Social Security phone scam
Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert on Friday warned of a new phone scam involving local residents receiving phone messages saying their Social Security number has been “frozen.” Anyone receiving such a call is asked to hang up immediately and to not engage any callers, as the line may be recorded. Citrus Heights taekwondo owner defends business after former instructor arrested

The owner alleges that the former customer has engaged in a social media “blitz” regarding allegations that a former instructor at the studio committed sex crimes with a 14-year-old student. Cooling center temporarily opened at Community Center during heat wave
The Citrus Heights Community Center on Fountain Square Drive has been opened as a cooling center from July 27-28, during an anticipated heat wave. The center will be open from 1-7 p.m. each day, with water and Wi-Fi available on site. (See Facebook post)
