Attorney Ryan Jones has been selected by the City Council to replace Ruthanne Ziegler as city attorney for Citrus Heights, the mayor announced during Thursday’s council meeting.
Jones graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Area Studies, and earned his law degree from Penn State-Dickinson School of Law.
He is currently the managing partner of the Jones & Mayer Law Firm, which relocated to Citrus Heights earlier this year and has offices at 6349 Auburn Blvd.
Jones has served as city attorney for Bishop, Clearlake, and Colusa and has also served as the assistant city attorney for La Habra and Nevada City. According to his law firm’s website, Jones also serves as a trustee on the Eureka Union School District, which serves students in the Granite Bay and Roseville area.
“It’s a great team and I’m proud to be a part of it, really proud to be a member of the Citrus Heights business community,” Jones said during the July 25 council meeting. “I’m looking forward to getting more involved in that, with the Chamber of Commerce, and other charitable clubs.”
Jones specializes in municipal law and litigation. He represents cities and public agencies as a transactional attorney as well as in civil litigation.
Jones succeeds former Citrus Heights City Attorney Ruthanne Ziegler, who served as the city’s attorney for 22 years. According to Mayor Bruins, Ziegler recently scaled back her practice and is pursuing other endeavors.
