As previously reported, the shooting occurred on March 21, 2017, at Sroka’s home on the 7000 block of Circlet Way, near Winlock Avenue and Van Maren Lane.

According to the DA’s news release, a vacuum salesman who came to the door was invited inside with Sroka and a group of people. After the salesman became pushy about buying the vacuum, Sroka cursed at the man and told him to get out of the house.

One of the people inside Sroka’s home, whose name was not included in the news release, then got in an argument with Sroka about how he had treated the salesman. Sroka then “threatened to get his gun and shoot the victim,” but the other individual “punched him in the face 10 times” in an effort to keep him from getting the gun.

While exiting the house, the DA’s office said the “victim” vandalized the home and was shot by Sroka 10 times in the backyard. He was taken to the hospital with at least five bullet wounds, and Sroka was arrested at the scene.

Sroka faces a maximum sentence of 34 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced by Sacramento Superior Court Judge Eugene Balonon on Sept. 13, 2019.
