Sentinel staff report–
Drivers looking for gas prices under $3 a gallon will find it in Citrus Heights this Saturday during a two-hour grand opening event scheduled for a newly re-opened 76 Gas Station on Auburn Boulevard.
Owner Mike Marcos told The Sentinel that gas prices will be slashed to $2.99 per gallon for regular unleaded, from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. He said the grand opening celebration will also feature free hot dogs and hamburgers, a 50-inch plasma TV giveaway raffle, and a live DJ.
“We’re back open with a fresh look, fresh design,” Marcos said, inviting nearby neighbors to come to the grand opening and meet him and his station manager, Mena Mousa. He said the city’s mayor and police chief will also be at the grand opening.
The gas station site, located at 7500 Auburn Blvd., had been vacant after an ARCO station abruptly closed several years ago. Marcos re-opened the gas station in May under an independent brand and then re-opened in June with 76 branding.
After receiving approval for a Type 20 alcohol sales license from the City Council in May, Marcos said the gas station’s convenience store is now selling beer and wine.
As of June 27, the gas station currently is selling regular unleaded fuel for $3.39. According to GasBuddy.com, only Costco is currently cheaper in town, with a price listed at $3.37.
