Citrus Heights Police Logs: phone scam, Levi’s, domestic violence

Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include reports of a rifle-carrying transient on a bike, shoplifters making off with over $700 in Levi’s at Sunrise Mall, and a man being scammed out of $14,000 after receiving a call about winning a vehicle.

The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Additional bulletins are linked at the end of this article.

Tuesday, April 23, 2019: Total of 76 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 19 calls regarding suspicious activities, 23 disturbance-related, 11 homeless/transient-related, no grand thefts, 3 petty thefts, 3 vehicle burglaries, 4 assault reports, 7 collisions, 2 stolen vehicles, and 5 reports of domestic violence.

4:41 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Sky Vista Ct. A witness reported a vehicle burglary had just occurred on a small court near Tupelo Drive. The suspect was walking away at the time police were contacted.

7:57 a.m., Domestic Violence, Birdcage Village Apartments on Birdcage St. A man was reportedly seen punching a female in an apartment parking lot on Birdcage Street.

10:59 a.m., Stolen Vehicle, Sierra Square Apartments on Targa Circle. Police were notified that a vehicle had been stolen overnight from an apartment complex near Sunrise East Way and Fair Oaks Boulevard.

11:22 a.m., Petty Theft, Macy’s Men’s. Two men reportedly walked out of Macy’s with more than $700 worth of Levi’s clothing.

12:12 p.m., Disturbance Verbal, Raley’s on Lichen Drive. A man was observed “jumping on a vehicle” in the Raley’s parking lot, with a female inside the vehicle.

3:21 p.m., Fraud/Forgery, Northgrove Wy. Police were contacted by a man who said he received a call telling him he had won a new car. He was then told to open a bank account and has now lost $14,000. The man said he wanted to file a police report and advised police he had already filed a case with his bank.

4:16 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Dollar Tree on Greenback Ln. A transient man on a bike was reportedly seen “carrying a rifle with a scope” on near the intersection of Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard.

5:54 p.m., Shoplifting, Walmart on Auburn Blvd. Police were contacted after a shoplifter was taken into custody by security at the Walmart store on Auburn Boulevard. The value of items taken was listed at under $950.

5:59 p.m., Petty Theft, Chevron at Auburn/Greenback. Police were called on a woman who was inside a Chevron gas station convenience store eating an item she didn’t pay for.

10:42 p.m., Disturbance Loitering, Food Maxx on Sunrise Blvd. A man and a woman in a wheelchair were reportedly “in the restroom for a long period of time” at the Food Maxx store on Sunrise Boulevard.

11:55 p.m., Petty Theft, Shady Crest Wy. Three bicycles were reportedly stolen from a backyard on Shady Crest Way, located near the Foxwood Apartments off Sandalwood Way.
