A local Citrus Heights women’s club is seeking to add some more local flavor to its upcoming “Taste of Citrus Heights” fundraiser. The 3rd annual all-you-can-eat-and-drink fundraiser will be returning to the Citrus Heights Community Center next month, promising an evening of food, fundraising and fun.
Darla Buechner, whose GFWC Citrus Heights Women’s Club is putting on the event, said there’s still room for restaurants, wineries and breweries to sign up as vendors for the event. All that’s required for vendors is that they bring enough food or drinks to provide tastings for 400 people, Buechner said. No vendor fees are charged.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, and the event is slated to conclude at 10 p.m. General admission tickets run $40 and can be purchased online at www.tasteofcitrusheights.com.
Buechner said her women’s club is hoping to recruit a total of 45-50 vendors at the event and sell 400 tickets — up from about 300 last year. She said funds raised will go to support the Citrus Heights Police Foundation to help cover the costs of putting on a wellness training for all Citrus Heights police officers and staff. The training will help teach strategies for coping with post-traumatic stress and other issues that can affect officers’ mental health and home life.
