Leatherby’s to close for 5 hours Monday for funeral of founder
Leatherby’s Family Creamery will close its three locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 11 for the funeral of Dave Leatherby, who passed away at age 81 on March 3, 2019. Although locations will be closed for business, the creamery said in a Facebook post that coupons for a free Rachel’s Sundae will be passed out to anyone visiting a Leatherby’s location during 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, while supplies last. Citrus Heights post office closed after vehicle collision
The post office at 7828 Zenith Drive in Citrus Heights was forced to close for the day after a vehicle struck the building, a USPS spokesperson confirmed with The Sentinel in an email statement on Thursday. Additional details about the incident were not provided.
Planning Commission to hear proposed public storage expansion
A public hearing will be held at City Hall Wednesday night regarding a request by Public Storage to “eliminate existing tenant spaces and convert an existing 12,960 square foot
office/mini-storage building to a mini-storage facility of 14,040 square feet,” according to the Planning Commission’s March 13 agenda. The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. (See agenda packet)
Burglary victim in Citrus Heights wants others to learn from his mistakes
A Citrus Heights man was interviewed by ABC 10 on Friday after his home was burglarized and his valuables were stolen. He said he hoped his experience will help others see the value of documenting serial numbers of electronics and installing video surveillance or alarm systems — things he wished he had personally done.
