Tickets already selling out for craft beer festival in Citrus Heights

Sentinel staff report–
Early bird general admission tickets are already sold out for the first-ever “Brews in the Burbs” festival in Citrus Heights, but several other ticket options still remain for those interested.

The event is put on by the Sunrise MarketPlace and will take place on Saturday, June 8, from 4-8 p.m. in the Sunrise Mall parking lot. The inaugural event promises craft beer tastings, live music, food trucks, games and more.

Ticket prices range from $35 for a “not so early bird” general admission ticket, to $50 for a VIP admission ticket. All tickets — except for a $20 “designated driver” ticket — include unlimited beer tasting.

The VIP ticket offers early entry, a larger tasting glass, and access to a VIP lounge, according to ticket descriptions on EventBrite. Early entry will begin at 4 p.m., while general admission ticket holders will have access from 5-8 p.m.

Setup and security for the beer festival will be similar to that of past outdoor concerts at Sunrise Marketplace. The “Brews in the Burbs” festival will be held in partnership with Beers in Sac, a beer festival scheduling company in Sacramento.

Participating breweries announced so far on the event’s official Facebook page include Sacramento’s  River City Brewing Company and Humboldt County’s Mad River Brewing Company, as well as BoochCraft, Jackrabbit Brewing Company, and other breweries.

Sunrise MarketPlace representative Julie DePrada previously told The Sentinel that organizers are hopeful the event will become “an annual event people will want to keep coming back to.” The event is the first of several events the MarketPlace has announced as part of its 20-year anniversary.

The Sunrise MarketPlace was formed in 1999 as a business improvement district that represents more than 400 businesses in the commercial corridor near Sunrise Mall. Recent events included a Holiday Laser Light Show in the parking lot at Lowe’s, performances of the Nutcracker Ballet inside Sunrise Mall and a “Winterfest” event at Sunrise Village.

Tickets for Brews in the Burbs can be purchased online at EventBrite.com. Entry is restricted to those age 21 and over.
