Latest police logs in Citrus Heights include a rash of burglaries, several assault reports involving bystanders attempting to intervene, a sideshow near Rusch Park, and a man reportedly being “dumped out of a vehicle” near Antelope Road and Interstate 80.
The following is a summary of select incidents listed in the Citrus Heights Police Department’s daily incident bulletins for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019. Links to additional bulletins are also included below.
Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019: Total of 62 incidents listed.
Incident report categories of note: 22 calls regarding suspicious activities, 10 disturbance-related, 5 homeless/transient-related, no grand thefts, 3 petty thefts, eight burglaries, 4 assault reports, one collision, one stolen vehicle, and one report of domestic violence.
12:02 a.m., Assault, Hot Pot Express on Antelope Rd. A caller told police they had tried to break up a fight after seeing two men in a physical altercation around midnight in the parking lot of Hot Pot Express. One of the men was hit in the face. No weapons were involved.
2:34 a.m., Assault, McDonald’s at Old Auburn/Sunrise. Police were called after a bystander saw a man assault his girlfriend and intervened to help the woman. The caller was then hit in the face by the man.
8:56 a.m., Burglary, Mariposa Ave. A barn on Mariposa Avenue was reportedly burglarized at some point during the night.
9:48 a.m., Petty Theft, Once Upon A Child on Greenback Ln. Police were advised that a woman had stolen a $90 stroller from a children’s store that purchases used clothing and baby gear from customers and re-sells them. The woman reportedly brought in some used items to the store and provided all her personal information during the exchange. She then took a $60 check for the items and then left without paying for the stroller.
10:05 a.m., Disturbance Loitering, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. A group of six to 10 individuals were reportedly seen loitering at Rusch Park, several of whom were believed to have “set benches on fire” the prior day.
11:03 a.m., Burglary Vehicle, Highland Ave. Several saws and other items were reportedly stolen from a locked truck on Highland Avenue. The items were valued at a minimum of $3,700.
11:50 a.m., Reckless Driving, Rusch Park on Auburn Blvd. A sideshow involving reckless driving was reportedly observed on Auburn Boulevard at the entrance to Rusch Park, involving at least six trucks and a motorcycle.
3:31 p.m. Panhandling, Antelope/Lichen. A group of transients were reportedly seen panhandling at an intersection on Antelope Road, accompanied by dogs and shopping carts.
3:41 p.m., Petty Theft, Tenth Inning on Mariposa Ave. An iPhone 8+ was reportedly stolen from a vehicle outside the Tenth Inning bar on Mariposa Avenue while the window was rolled down.
7:01 p.m., Throwing substance at vehicle, Old Auburn/Sunrise. A man was reportedly standing on the side of Sunrise Boulevard “throwing unknown objects at passing southbound vehicles.” One of the objects, described as possibly pieces of metal pipe, had reportedly hit the caller’s vehicle.
7:02 p.m., Suspicious Circumstances, Antelope/I-80. A man was reportedly “dumped out of a vehicle” and was laying on the road near Antelope Road and Interstate 80.
7:19 p.m., Burglary Vehicle, Dollar Tree at San Juan/Greenback. Two men in a black Ford Taurus were reportedly observed burglarizing a vehicle in the Dollar Tree parking lot.
11:59 p.m., Assault, Phat Chads Tavern on Auburn Blvd. A fight between two men occurred inside Phat Chads Tavern shortly before midnight. Bar staff had reportedly been able to get one of the men to go outside, but he kept “sending other people in to make threats to the male inside.”
