Sentinel staff report–
Want to help out a local organization supporting veterans? It’s as easy as dining at Applebee’s on Feb. 26, according to American Legion Post 637 spokesman Jim Monteton.

In partnership with the local American Legion post, Applebee’s will donate 15 percent of customers’ meal purchase to the local veterans organization. To qualify, diners must eat between specified hours at the Applebee’s at 6900 Auburn Blvd. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and show a flier to their server to indicate they are participating in the fundraiser.

“If you stop by any time from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on that day and have a meal you will be helping veterans in our city,” Monteton said in an email promotional for the event.

American Legion Post 637, headed up by Commander Paul Reyes, regularly hosts events in Citrus Heights, including annual ceremonies for Veterans Day and Memorial Day at Sylvan Cemetery. For the past several years, the organization has also put on a “Battle of the Bands & BBQ” fundraiser at the Rusch Home to help raise money for American Legion’s “Vets Helping Vets” fund, which assists homeless and in-need veterans and their families.
